Sin'RJ
charter

Sin'RJ is a space for transdisciplinary cooperation based on respect for individuals, plurality of knowledge and collective responsibility.

All participation implies adherence to its charter of commitment and ethical framework.

Sin'RJ Charter

Integrated and inclusive mental health · Recovery · Justice

Sin’RJ is a transdisciplinary and international network. All our actions and reflections aim to improve the living conditions, health and justice for people living with mental disorders and society as a whole.

Sin’RJ is an independent structure, open to various public, philanthropic and institutional funding, guaranteeing its sustainability and capacity for action while respecting this charter.

This charter defines the ethical principles, values and operating rules shared by all members of the network.

It aims to guarantee a framework of trust, rigour and cooperation, which is essential to the solidity and future of Sin'RJ.

Compliance with this charter is a prerequisite for participating in the network's activities.

Our values

Guided by respect for individuals and equality of knowledge, Sin'RJ operates independently to contribute to society through prevention, recovery and justice initiatives.

1

Respect for individuals and their backgrounds

Sin’RJ recognises the dignity, uniqueness and autonomy of each individual, regardless of their background, status, role or institution.

No statement, action or publication should stigmatise, discredit, essentialise or reduce an individual to their vulnerability.

Respect also includes the cultural, geographical, and institutional diversity of members and participants.

2

Recognition and equity of knowledge

Sin'RJ recognises as legitimate, necessary, and complementary:

  • scientific knowledge,
  • professional knowledge,
  • knowledge derived from the experiences of the individuals concerned and their loved ones.

This knowledge is partial in nature and cannot, on its own, account for the complexity of human situations.

Sin'RJ does not aim for formal equality of knowledge, but rather for its equitable treatment, taking into account:

  • asymmetries of recognition,
  • implicit power relations,
  • conditions of access to speech and legitimacy.

The network strives to create conditions that allow each type of knowledge to be heard, understood and taken into account. Each type of knowledge is brought into dialogue and confronted in a respectful and constructive manner in order to produce a more accurate understanding and responses that are better adapted to the realities of people's experiences.

3

Independence, partnerships and funding

Sin'RJ is an independent organisation in order to guarantee that there is no influence on the dissemination of good practices and scientific and ethical neutrality.

Sin'RJ is called upon to evolve in order to guarantee its sustainability, autonomy and capacity for action

The network can mobilise various types of funding (public, institutional, philanthropic, European or private), provided that such funding:

  • complies with the principles of this charter,
  • does not influence content, policy or positions,
  • does not compromise the independence of the network or the rights of the individuals concerned.

Institutional, associative or academic partnerships are sought with a view to cooperation, clarity of roles and mutual respect.

All partnerships will be evaluated in advance to verify the compatibility of objectives, affiliations and practices with the values, mission and neutrality of Sin'RJ. The network reserves the right to refuse or terminate any partnership that could compromise its independence, credibility or the rights and journeys of the individuals concerned.

Sin'RJ creates a common ethical framework for thinking together, acting fairly and making recovery journeys more accessible.

4

Cooperative approach and societal contribution

Sin'RJ is a space for cooperation, dialogue and shared reflection. It is neither a militant partisan movement nor a normative body.

Discussions are based on:

  • active listening,
  • respectful confrontation of points of view,
  • the ability to question one's own frameworks,
  • the co-construction of common understandings and responses.

The plurality of positions is a source of richness, as long as it is part of a framework of mutual respect and responsibility.

Disagreement is part of the collective reflection process. Reasoned and constructive disagreements are encouraged within a framework of respect and responsibility.

5

Rejection of simplistic injunctions and solutions, advocacy

Sin'RJ recognises that complex human situations cannot be resolved by universal models or standardised responses.

Sin'RJ does not promote injunctions or ready-made solutions. Sin'RJ does not prescribe ideal trajectories.

The network documents what works, for whom, and in what contexts, taking into account limitations, risks, and points of vigilance.

Sin'RJ can contribute to public debate and advocacy through documented and pluralistic discourse, drawing on scientific, professional, and experiential knowledge, without taking a partisan stance.

6

Ethics of recovery

Sin'RJ advocates a vision of recovery that is:

  • non-prescriptive,
  • non-judgmental,
  • respectful of each person's pace, choices and autonomy.

Recovery cannot be imposed or evaluated from the outside. It is not an injunction to get better, but a possible horizon, made accessible by fairer, more coordinated and inclusive environments, practices and policies.

The person concerned remains at the centre of choices and decisions, and their preferences guide practices.

7

Collective responsibility and transparency

Each member or contributor to Sin'RJ undertakes to act with honesty, rigour and transparency, ensuring the quality and integrity of their contributions.

  • clearly distinguish between facts, analyses, experiences and opinions,
  • cite their sources, references and frameworks explicitly,
  • sreport any actual or potential conflicts of interest,
  • update the files and practices referenced in the network twice a year.

The credibility of the network depends on the quality, transparency and integrity of its contributions. Contributions must be in the collective interest and promote the quality of exchanges and the social utility of the network.

8

Protection of the project and its integrity

Sin'RJ strives to preserve its independence, credibility and the integrity of the projects it supports. Any use of the network for undeclared commercial, ideological or partisan purposes, or contrary to the principles of this charter, is prohibited.

In the event of a problematic situation, a dialogue will be initiated with the person concerned in order to clarify the situation and consider solutions.

If necessary, proportionate measures may be taken, up to and including suspension of participation, always in accordance with the network's internal rules.

The protection of the project is collective. The final decision will be taken by all members in accordance with Sin'RJ's internal rules.

Sin'RJ ensures compliance with this charter to protect the people, contributions and credibility of the network.

Sin'RJ is a demanding, open and evolving space.

It is based on trust, responsibility and collective intelligence.

This charter constitutes a common foundation, which is regularly reviewed.

It is not intended to stifle the network, but to provide it with a solid framework for growth, adjustment and longevity.
